About the Artist

My name is Gordon Haswell and I am a contemporary artist from the UK who is now based in Greece.

A BA Hons degree holder in Graphic Design from the UK I now specialise in portraiture and pop culture using a selection of materials such as oils, charcoal and sometimes digital.

I am fascinated by the human body and especially the face and try to capture this in a portrait of work that tries to capture the beauty and elegance of our physical form alongside the movement, excitement and chaos that engulfs our inner thoughts and feelings. My approach involves the use of a palette knife as an important tool as it creates the imperfections and dynamism that makes as all unique and special.

My Miss Melina work takes this even further with the idea of an important figurehead to so many people in the shape of a teacher but letting us see directly inside her when she is caught off guard.
